The Point of Graffiti
Graffiti is an amazing art form and no matter if you catch tags outside or if you enjoy graffiti on permission walls and in the books. Now while it's true, the whole purpose of graffiti might be to "get up" and get your tag name seen, this doesn’t necessarily apply to people who enjoy permission walls or do graffiti as more of a pass time. No matter how you enjoy graffiti there's one thing we all have in common and thats the love for letters, and the need to learn our tag names. this is really the purpose of graffiti for all of us, it's to learn our tag names so we can learn how to do any letters in graffiti.
New graffiti artists often feel the urge to change their name when they run into difficulties. The issue with this plan is the fact that the name was never the problem, YOU WERE! Since a new artist hasnt learned the basics just yet, they’re bound to run into problems no matter the name they choose. Sure some names might have be easier to handle than others, but even so, a new graffiti artist will still run into obsticals. At some point, we all have to face the music and understand that no name will be easy until we learn the. basics. Embracing the challenges of learning your tag name is similar to mastering a mathematical formula because once you’ve learned those basics, all names become easy. Check our online store for our new book “Ultimate Graffiti Guide Book” that teaches you all of the fundamentals you need to lear.
As you progress in your graffiti journey, you'll encounter crossroads where your artistic goals evolve. Balancing practice with fun drawings becomes essential. Some artists thrive on consistent practice, while others find enjoyment in spontaneous, explorative drawings. Deciding what you want from your art at different stages helps allocate your time effectively between honing your fundamentals and enjoying the creative process. The important take away here is, no matter what you choose, you need to come to grips with what your choice means for your art. If you choose to pass on practice for the sake of only doing fun drawings then expect your progression to slow down or stop all together. If you choose to only practice then expect to get tired of creating.
Regardless of how you create, be sure to do what you enjoy.
