Unfortunately, many young writers rush to put up low-quality throwies or tags without thinking about the consequences.
Depending on where you live and what you’re tagging, the legal penalties can vary from community service to serious jail time. On top of that, there's the physical danger—the wrong place at the wrong time can put your safety, even your life, at risk. And for what? A tag that won’t last and likely won’t impress? When you’re young, it might seem worth it, but logically, the answer is always no; not only is it not at all worth it, it’s simply a factually bad decision that only hurts your life.
But Emotionally, It Feels Worth It
Logic doesn’t always apply to graffiti. Most people don’t start writing because it makes sense—they do it because it feels necessary. Graffiti gives many of us an instant sense of gratification.
